This installation guide is intended to be used to assist you during the installation of your Morimoto 4Banger Ditch Lights.
Installation Video
Tools needed:
- T40 torx bit
- T30 torx bit
- 3/8th (or 10mm) socket
- Ratchet wrench (Manual preferred)
- Zip ties
- Cutters
Step 1
Setting up the mounting brackets:
- Use the provided plastic clip and place it in the opening on the side of mounting bracket, so that the opening in the clip is vertical. This clip will be used to secure the power wire later on in the installation.
- Repeat the same for the other bracket.
Step 2
Mounting the 4Banger brackets to the Jeep:
- Remove the two T40 torx bolts located just below the windshield near the A-pillar.
- Mount the bracket to the corresponding side of the vehicle and secure with the factory T40 bolts.
Step 3
Mounting the 4Banger to the A-pillar mounting bracket:
- Mount the universal U bracket to the A-pillar mount using the provided hardware
- Place the large bolt down through the U bracket and the A-pillar bracket
- Place the flat washer and than the provided lock nut
The proper orientation of the universal U bracket is to have the top screws holes facing towards the front of the vehicle.
Step 4
Mounting the 4Banger light pod into the universal U bracket:
- Place the 4Banger into the universal U bracket
- Secure using the two provided screws
Leave all of the screws loose so that you can aim and adjust your lights!
Step 5
Preparing to run the Morimoto power harness:
- Remove the two T30 torx bolts that secure the hood trim that surrounds the windshield wipers.
- Repeat on the opposite side of the hood.
Step 6
Connecting the Morimoto Power Harness and Switch:
- Find a suitable mounting location for the switch harness relay (Black square box with metal bracket) and mount the relay
- Route the longest leg of the harness to the drivers side light.
- Route the shorter leg to the passenger side light.
- Run the connector under the hood panel that was loosened in Step 5 and connect the power harness to the 4Banger light.
- Secure the wire in the plastic clip that you placed in the mounting bracket in Step 1.
- Re-secure the hood trim using the four T30 torx bolts.
Step 7
Connecting the harness to power and ground:
- Remove the 3/8th in (or 10mm) nut from one of the positive battery terminals.
- Remove the 3/8th in (or 10mm) nut from one of the negative battery terminals.
- Place the eyelet from the black ground cable from the harness onto the negative terminal of the battery and re-secure with the factory nut.
- Place the eyelet from the red power cable from the harness onto the positive terminal of the battery and re-secure with the factory nut.
Step 8
Use the provided switch to test for functionality!
Step 9
Installing the Morimoto switch:
- Using the OEM grommet in the firewall:
- Remove the switch by unscrewing and disconnecting at the barrel connector.
- Run the wire through the factory firewall grommet
- On automatic transmission vehicles: use the drivers side grommet
- On manual transmission vehicle: use the passenger side grommet or use a step-down drill bit to drill a new hole and use the provided grommet from Morimoto.
- Pull the power wire though and towards your preferred mounting location.
- Drill a 3/4 inch hole in your preferred mounting location.
- Place the switch through and secure with the metal mounting ring
- Reconnect the barrel connector
Step 10
Final adjustment and aiming of your Morimoto 4Banger Ditch Lights.
- Find a nice flat spot either in the garage or outside
- Aim your ditch lights to achieve your desire beam coverage and secure the two screws on the sides of the universal U bracket and the large bolt that holds the universal U bracket to the A-pillar mount.
